Ear Development
This figure reports on a study of inner ear development. The five embryos studied represent different developmental stages. For wach a represtative image from the DLDD is shown, which includes a sextion through the developing otic vesicle/membranous labrynth. WinSurf software was used to make a 3-D reconstruction of the inner ear in the spotted dolphin. For comparison, a similar view of the developing human membranous labyrinth is also shown taken from Gray's Anatomy - The Organ of Hearing - Yahoo! Reference.
