Rootstown, Ohio, was selected as the site for the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine because of its central location among the consortium universities and clinical campuses.

The campus is made up of several connected buildings. The academic support facility houses a conference center, medical library, cafeteria, bookstore, exercise room and administrative offices. The student and instructional building includes an auditorium, student lounge and study carrels, seminar rooms, human anatomy and teaching laboratories, and offices for academic and student support. Another auditorium, offices and research laboratories for the basic medical sciences faculty fill three additional buildings on the Rootstown campus. The state-of-the-art Dr. Chatrchai and Eleanor Watanakunakorn Medical Research Building houses laboratories, program offices and classrooms for collaborative research projects among clinical and basic sciences faculty.

The Center for Studies of Clinical Performance, is adjacent to the student and instructional building. The center is used for the instruction and evaluation of clinical and diagnostic skills of medical students and residents. It includes 16 patient examination rooms assembled around a central viewing area, space for adjoining offices, meeting and seminar rooms. Audiovisual equipment (television cameras, microphones and speakers linked to television monitors, videotape recording and playback machines) and computers are installed in the patient assessment rooms to facilitate evaluation of student clinical competency. The center also will be used by faculty, students and residents of other medical schools in the region for student assessments, standardized patient trainer workshops, faculty development programs and technical assistance or advisory services.

The 55-acre campus also features a walking/fitness trail and tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, as well as a medicinal herb garden and outdoor amphitheater.

The NEOUCOM Conference Center, completed in May 2002, is a state-of-the art meeting facility. The center can accommodate events for as few as five people and as many as 700 guests. With more than 26,000 square feet of space and a staff dedicated to superior customer service, the center is fast becoming a preferred meeting site in Northeast Ohio.
