Session 10: Presentation of Community
Intervention to the Home Base Agency

Objectives for Session 10:

  • Students will present possible community intervention to the Home Base Agency. 
  • Students will present the strengths and weaknesses of the community intervention. 
  • Students will obtain feedback from the staff of the Home Base Agency. 
  • Students will provide the Home Base Agency with a copy of their presentation.

Community Experience
April 8/10 or March 31 to April 11, 2008

Student Assignment (before Session 10 Community Experience):

  • Prepare an oral presentation to present to the community faculty and staff of the Home Base Agency. (See Presentation Requirements)

Community Experience Activities (Apr 8/10 or Mar 31 to Apr 11):

Students will:

  • Present their chosen community intervention in a formal power point presentation.
  • Solicit feedback from community faculty.

Community faculty will:

  • Discuss viability of the community intervention presented by the students.
  • Make suggestions to improve/enhance community intervention.
  • Provide feedback on groups performance in year 2.

Rootstown Session - April 18, 2008

Rootstown Session Activities (Apr 18, 2-3:00pm)

Students will:

  • Prepare poster board display using key power point slides from community presentation. 

Student Assignment: (Due April 21, Noon)

  • Insert a copy of the presentation into the CAN. 
  • Turn in the completed Community Assessment Notebook (CAN). 
  • Provide other supporting materials upon request of community faculty. 
  • Prepare poster for poster session on April 18. 

 

 

Presentation Requirements

 
Format  

  • You are expected to develop a 30 minute oral presentation using power point slides or overheads.
  • Provide your audience with appropriate handouts (can be your power point slides).
  • Allow 10 to 15 additional minutes for questions and discussion with agency representatives.
  • All students are expected to present.
  • If the agency does not have audio visual equipment, and the students cannot make other arrangements, students may use handouts.

 

The Presentation should include:  

  • Names of all members of the group, names and titles of home-based and Rootstown-based faculty, agency name, and topic.
  • Description of the community problem.
  • Recommended community intervention:
    • Rationale—describe why you chose this strategy.
    • Evidence—describe (from evidence provided from your literature search) the impact, effectiveness, economic efficiency, and feasibility (for your agency) of the strategy.
    • Recommended evaluation strategies.
    • Resources—identify resources that the agency might use to implement the strategy.
  • A concluding summary of your recommendations.
  • References used in your project.

 

Insert a copy of your power point presentation/overheads and handouts in your CAN and submit to your Rootstown-based faculty by April 21st at noon.
