2008 Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics Course
The 2008 Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) Provider Course will be held on February 13-14, 2008 at NEOUCOM in the Dr. Chatrchai and Eleanor Watanakunakorn Medical Research Building. ALSO is an educational program designed to enhance cognitive and procedural skills of maternity care providers to help them manage obstetrical emergencies. Neonatal Resuscitation Program
Twenty-four first-year residents from four family medicine residency programs united for a day at NEOUCOM on July 12 for the annual Neonatal Resuscitation Program, sponsored by the Department of Family Medicine. Course directors, Nancy Flickinger, M.D., Assistant director, Family Medicine Residency Program, Barberton Citizens Hospital, and Kim Firestone, B.S., R.R.T., Neonatal Outreach Educator, Akron Childrens Hospital, joined five other instructors to provide multidisciplinary, team-based instruction in ventilation, chest compressions, endotracheal intubation, medications and the ethics of decision-making in newborn emergencies.

The 2006 class gets off to a good start. During the first day long session (May 11, 2005) the twelve fellows assessed current skills, comfort and relevance regarding essential teaching competencies.
