Research Interests:
The major research of our laboratory involves an examination of age-related and neurotoxin-induced changes of the nigrostriatal dopaminergic system and how these neurodegenerative conditions are modulated by gonadal steroid hormones to result in the sex differences observed in such neurodegenerative disorders like Parkinsons disease. In addition, we have also been using the psychostimulant, methamphetamine, as a means to study sex differences in dopaminergic function as related to neurotoxicity and addiction.
