Faculty from NEOUCOMs Department of Anatomy teach human gross anatomy, microscopic anatomy and embryology to first-year medical students in a new, integrated course called Human Development and Anatomy. Departmental faculty are also actively engaged in a variety of research programs, including, but not limited to, research related to Parkinson's disease, osteoarthritis, the molecular biology of connective tissue, the evolution of pirmate feeding adaptations, and the evolutionary history of several vertebrate groups, including the ancestors of modern whales, primates and humans. The Department of Anatomy also oversees NEOUCOM's Body Donation Program. Through the Body Donation Program, generous individuals can make arrangements to donate their body after death for the purpose of educating medical students.
