Introduction
The Wasson Center is a dedicated facility for the teaching and assessment of disciplinary and interprofessional clinical skills and professional competencies. All schools and programs are invited to use the Center to conduct Clinical Skills Examinations (CSE) and other formative and summative assessments involving simulation and or Standardized Patients (SPs). Space for structured student practice is available on a limited basis (see Student Use of Center).
The Wasson Center and experienced staff prepare students for professional practice under simulated conditions. The Center has 16 fully-equipped exam rooms, a simulation lab, digital video recording and secure web-stream video capabilities. Faculty are able to view and access student performance in real time via 1-way observation windows. Faculty and students are able to view recorded sessions in small group seminars which provide the opportunity for self, peer, and faculty assessment of performance. The Wasson Center offers access and training in the use of task trainers and human patient simulators, such as METI ECS (an adult emergency care simulator), METI PediaSim ECS (a pediatric emergency care simulator) and Harvey (a cardiac simulator). Exam rooms and the simulation lab contain standard supplies and equipment found in typical clinical settings.
The Wasson Center is first and foremost for pre-professional students and residents. Exam rooms are reserved for testing and teaching clinical skills, including interviewing, physical examinations and procedural skills. Activities that can be conducted in a classroom and/or which do not test or teach clinical skills via simulation are not scheduled in the Wasson Center.

General Scheduling and Preparation
Scheduling
Scheduling of the Wasson Center for undergraduate health professions education will occur in conjunction with the Assistant Dean of the Office of Health Professions Education. Priority for scheduling will be given to activities involving students, residents, and continuing education, provided these activities are scheduled one semester in advance. All other activities are on a 1st come, 1st serve basis.
Hours
The Wasson Center is open from 8:00 AM 5 PM Monday Friday. Scheduling use of the facility at times other than regular operating hours requires two weeks advance notice and is subject to the discretion of the Executive Director.

It is essential to include time for set up (i.e., between 30 minutes and 1 hour before use begins) and time for clean-up following the visit (i.e., another 30 minutes to 1 hour of time) in your scheduling request. This will ensure that you have sufficient time before and after your visit that will not conflict with other users.
Cancellations
Cancellations must be made 72 hours prior to the event. Failure to notify the Center Manager within that time frame will result in a late cancellation charge of $15% of the estimated charged payment including contracted services from faculty and SPs, as well as charges for any contracted services.
Room Use
The Conference Room and exam rooms are to be used for clinical skills teaching and assessment. They are NOT to be used for small group meetings or class presentations that are not in conjunction with clinical assessment or teaching.
