Calendar.  The Colleges of Medicine and Pharmacy, through their innovative 6-year curricula leading to the combined BS/MD or PharmD degree, recruits high school students and high school graduates not previously enrolled in a college program; it provides a total of 9 semesters of academic experience which can be taken in a minimum of 6 years but which may be extended.

Admission. The College of Medicine has three admission access points.  Students are accepted for the combined BS/MD program directly from high school.  Applications for the program are due Dec. 15 of the year preceding admission.  Students are accepted by one of three consortium universities (University of Akron, Kent State University, Youngstown State University) for the first 2 years of pre-medical study.  After satisfactory performance, they are promoted to the medical phase of the program, which lasts 4 years.  The second admission point follows a premedical curriculum at an accredited college or university.  Students applying for the four-year M.D. degree program make application through the American Medical College Application Service, Suite 301, 1776 Massachusetts Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20036.  The third admission point occurs after a student has enrolled in another medical school and wishes to transfer to NEOUCOM.  Applications for advanced standing (transfer) admission can be obtained through NEOUCOM.  Further information on the competitive admissions procedures should be obtained through NEOUCOM admissions office.
 
Students interested in the College of Pharmacy must complete a pre-pharmacy curriculum at an accredited college or university and then apply for the four-year PharmD degree program through the Pharmacy College Application Service. Priority admission consideration is given to students who complete pre-requisite curriculum at four partner universities (University of Akron, Cleveland State University, Kent State University, Youngstown State University) and meet admission criteria. After satisfactory performance, they are promoted to the pharmacy phase of the program, which lasts 4 years.
 
Degree requirements.  Students in the combined BS/MD degree program must satisfy all requirements for their BS degrees through The University of Akron, Kent State University, Youngstown State University or Cleveland State University.  M.D. requirements through NEOUCOM include achieving at least a satisfactory grade in all required courses; demonstrating appropriate human qualities, completing B.S. degree requirements; passing Steps 1 and 2 of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination; being in full-time attendance at NEOUCOM for at least 2 consecutive years including the junior medical year.
 
Distinctive Education Programs.  NEOUCOM, partnered with three state universities, offers the only six-year combined BS/MD program in Ohio and collaborates with two state universities to offer graduate-level education in the biomedical sciences and biomedical engineering leading to master’s and doctoral degrees.  NEOUCOP, partnered with four state universities, offers the only six-year PharmD program in Northeast Ohio. There is also a Wasson Center for Clinical Skills Training, Assessment and Scholarship.
