CME Vision

NEOUCOM is committed to providing quality, cutting-edge continuing professional education for physicians and other health care providers.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Continuing Medical Education program is to provide quality medical educational activities for physicians. The CME program strives to enhance the knowledge, skills, and performance of physicians and other health care professionals in northeast Ohio. It is also the intent of the CME program to emphasize activities which strengthen the skills of the College of Medicine's clinical faculty to support the region's graduate and undergraduate medical education.

CME activities will be developed to respond to the needs of primary care physicians, clinical subspecialists, and other targeted health care professionals. These activities will relate to the clinical diagnosis and management of diseases and disorders, faculty development, health care systems and other topics that impact the practice or teaching of medicine, with an emphasis on community healthcare.

CME activities sponsored by the College of Medicine shall address the needs of physicians within the consortium, including those affiliated with hospitals in more rural areas of northeast Ohio where CME opportunities are often limited. The program also provides opportunities for our clinical faculty to develop and teach CME activities for regional, national and international audiences. When it is deemed appropriate, the CME program will seek joint sponsorship of educational activities as part of the Colleges efforts as a consortium institution.

The educational activities provided by the CME program shall use whatever educational methods are appropriate and may include, but are not limited to, conferences, workshops, discussion groups, one-on-one training sessions, a series of activities, and enduring materials such as computer programs and videotapes. Additional vehicles for providing continuing medical education will be implemented as new technologies become available, accessible, and acceptable to physicians within the region.

A variety of outcomes assessment tools will be used to collect and analyze data for selected CME activities. The data will be used to assess if the knowledge, skills and/or performance of physicians who participated in the learning activities were enhanced as a result of their attendance. The overall results of findings from multiple methodologies will be used to determine needs for future CME activities and for the continuous improvement of the CME program at NEOUCOM.
