Academic Programs
Doctor of Medicine
The Northeastern Ohio Universities Colleges of Medicine's Integrated Steps Curriculum is designed to develop the characteristics that people say they want to see in their doctors: competence, communication, caring, character and community. NEOUCOM offers several routes to admission for those seeking a doctor of medicine degree: B.S./M.D., direct entry or transfer admission.
Please visit the Office of Admissions Web site to learn more about admission to the doctor of medicine degree. Please visit the Office of Health Professions Education Web site to learn about the College of Medicines Integrated Steps Curriculum.
Doctor of Pharmacy
The College of Pharmacy was established by the Ohio Board of Regents in November 2005 and has been awarded Candidate accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) during the June 2008 ACPE Board of Directors meeting. The program was created to address an identified community need: a shortage of pharmacists. As the population ages and as the pharmacist's role expands in patient care, it is anticipated that the need for pharmacists will continue to outpace the supply.
The College of Pharmacy partners with The University of Akron, Kent State University, Youngstown State University and Cleveland State University to offer the Doctor of Pharmacy program. Preferential admissions agreements with these universities allow many students to complete their pre-pharmacy studies and then apply for the four-year doctor of pharmacy program at the Colleges' Rootstown campus. A direct-entry route to admission is also available for those seeking a Pharm.D.
