Doctor of Medicine

NEOUCOM’s Integrated Steps Curriculum is designed to develop the characteristics that people say they want to see in their doctors: competence, communication, caring, character and community. NEOUCOM offers several routes to admission for those seeking a doctor of medicine degree: B.S./M.D., direct entry or transfer admission.

Doctor of Pharmacy

The Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Pharmacy was given approval from the Ohio Board of Regents to offer a Doctor of Pharmacy degree in November, 2005 and has been awarded Precandidate accreditation status by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) during their January, 2007 meeting of the ACPE Board of Directors. The program was created to address an identified community need: a shortage of pharmacists. Recent studies indicate that by 2020 Ohio will experience a shortage of 14,000 pharmacists; nationally, it is expected there will be a 157,000 shortfall of pharmacists. Furthermore, as the population ages and as the pharmacist's role expands in patient care, it is anticipated that the need for pharmacists will continue to outpace the supply.

NEOUCOM has partnered with The University of Akron, Kent State University, Youngstown State University and Cleveland State University to offer the doctor of pharmacy program. Preferential admissions agreements will allow many students to complete their pre-pharmacy studies at one of these universities and then apply to the four-year NEOUCOM program. A direct-entry route to admission also is anticipated.
