Research Interests:

My research interests have revolved around improving clinical outcomes through the optimal use of drugs in the compromised patient. Data describing the use of drugs in critically ill patients is lacking and poorly described due to the nature of the changing patient. Clinicians are forced to use toxic or expensive drugs with very little guidance. Therefore, applying pharmacokinetic dosing of these drugs in sick patients has been useful in maintaining patient safety while resolving disease processes. As my career evolved, I became interested in teaching the next generation of clinicians how to think through complicated situations and to make the appropriate drug choice based on known or presumed information. As the Executive Associate Dean, my research interests will evolve into studying the best teaching methods for guiding critical thought process and creating techniques to track student progress.
