Generally, journals owned by The Ocasek Medical Library and the consortial hospital libraries do not circulate. Exceptions may exist on a title-by-title basis at each library; please check with your local librarian to determine the exact policy at your institution’s library.

The Ocasek Medical Library sends all journal volumes that are older than 15 years to the Northeast Ohio Regional Depository located on the NEOUCOM campus. The journal volumes stored at the Depository are readily available to you as a registered client in the patron database of the NEOUCOM consortium libraries. There are three ways that you may retrieve information from the journals stored at the Depository:

  1. If you know the exact citation, you may place an interlibrary loan request and a photocopy / a scanned copy of the article will be prepared for you.
  2. If you want to use / peruse a complete volume or several volumes, you may go to the Depository and use the materials at the Depository. Should you choose this option, Depository Staff request that you notify them in advance. They will pull the volumes that you need and have them ready for your use upon arrival. (330-325-6401)
  3. If you want to use a volume(s) for an extended period of time, you may request them online using the REQUEST feature in NEOLINK, the online catalog of NEOUCOM’s library consortium. Your request will be processed by Depository Staff who will send the volume(s) to the library for you to check-out.

Many journals in the Northeast Regional Depository are now available for borrowing through OhioLINK.  The circulation period for journal titles borrowed through OhioLINK is one week (7 days).

If you have questions, please contact Ms. Denise Cardon, Coordination for Circulation and Interlibrary Loan(dpcardon@neoucom.edu), 330-325-6601.
