The Library's food policy allows a limited set of snack foods to be brought and consumed in the library. Guidelines relating to what can be eaten, where it can be eaten and proper means of disposal have been set and are enforced in the OORMIC. A list of some of the snack items that are acceptable include pretzels, cookies, candy, raw fruits and undressed vegetables. Drinks are permitted in sip-lock cups or other tightly resealable containers. Items not permitted are pizza, soups, burgers, fries, sandwiches, salads, chips, donuts and popcorn, as well as all other foods that leave grease or fat stains that would damage library materials. Also to be avoided are noisy and odiferous foods that disturb others. Food is permitted in the Read Distance Education Center (RDEC) only if arrangements are made at the time the RDEC reservation is scheduled. Library personnel reserves the right to ask individuals to remove food from the library for consumption elsewhere. If there is a conflict resulting from a request or question concerning the policy or in cases of flagrant policy violations, a report will be filed according to college disciplinary procedures.
