The primary purpose of the plasma screen (and the attached speakers) is to support the curriculum and other academic endeavors of the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy. It is also used to supplement the news sources available in the library or in an emergency event. When the screen is not being used for an approved event, it will be used in  split screen mode with one side displaying a news source and the other displaying information relevant to the library. The sound will be muted and closed captions displayed.

Anyone wishing to use the plasma screen must provide a written request to the Coordinator for Access Services at least 5 business days in advance.  The request must be presented and/or signed by the instructor or sponsor from the NEOUCOM/NEOUCOP community for the person/group requesting use of the service.

The following rules will also be observed:

  • The volume must be kept at a reasonable level so as to minimize the disturbance to others in the library. Library staff have the right to ask patrons to reduce the volume of a broadcast should it be deemed to be disruptive.
  • Viewing sessions should be limited to 3 hours or less.
  • Library staff reserve the right to refuse use of the plasma screen to any group based on the anticipated traffic level in the library or the content of the material to be viewed.

Members of the NEOUCOM/NEOUCOP community who wish to view programming not available on the library plasma screen are encouraged to use the cable television in the student lounge.
