History

The Council met as an identifiable unit in August, 1977. Early activities included a union list of serials, reciprocal interlibrary loan, MEDLINE circuit support, a cooperative cataloging project, and courier service. Grants were obtained to remodel five of the NEOUCOM associated hospital libraries and provide MEDLINE training for the hospital librarians.

Mission

The mission of the Council is to support the information needs of faculty, staff, and health care professionals of NEOUCOM and its associated institutions; facilitate collaboration among the libraries of the NEOUCOM associated hospitals, consortium universities and their libraries, and NEOUCOM; and develop, strengthen, and network consortium-wide communications, education, health science information resources and services.

 

Membership

The Council of NEOUCOM Associated Hospital Librarians includes the chief medical librarian of the college of medicine and the chief medical librarian of each NEOUCOM-associated teaching hospital.
