All candidates for the M.D. degree must possess essential skills and abilities necessary to complete the medical school curriculum successfully either with or without reasonable accomodations for a disability the individual may have. This is further explained in the College's "Essential Functions for Admission, Continuation and Graduation." The College of Medicine is prepared to provide resaonable accomodations to students who are accepted by the College and who have documented disability. The College will review the information in order to determine whether a disability exists and a resonable accommodation can be made. The College reserves the right to reject any request for accommodation, that in its judgment, would involve the use of an intermediary that would in effect require a student to rely on someone else's power of selection and observation, fundamentally alter the nature of the College's educational program, lower academic standards, cause an undue hardship on the College, or endanger the safety of patients or others, for example. Current and prospective students are encouraged to contact the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and Admissions regarding concerns, questions or inquiries about ADA eligibility for reasonable accomodations or procedures for requesting accommodations. |
