Student Clinician Ceremony

The goal of the Student Clinician Ceremony is to provide a “transitional experience designed to provide guidance, information and support to medical students beginning their clerkships.” The concept of the SCC was developed by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation and has been implemented at many medical schools across the country.  Components of the SCC include:
  • Recitation of an oath
  • Selection of 6 residents by the outgoing M3 class for the “Humanism & Excellence in Teaching” award
  • Collaboration by current M2 and M3 students in planning
  • Selection of a keynote speaker
  • Presentation of a gift to each member of the 3rd year class
  • A reception following the ceremony

NEOUCOM’s Clinician Ceremony planning committee includes members of the M3 and M4 Class Oath Committees and the Office of Career Development and Advising.
