Match Day - Thursday, March 19, 2009

Ralph  Regula  Conference  Center , NEOUCOM
Length of event:  Doors open at 
, Match Day activities start promptly at 11:45 a.m. with a welcome by Lois Margaret Nora, M.D., J.D.  A  celebration reception to follow.
Attire:  Professional clothes
No. of guests:  unlimited
What will happen:  Envelopes containing match results are drawn one at a time starting at noon. First student’s name is drawn by Dr. Nora, student comes to the front and accepts the envelope and gives $1 donation (for reverse raffle, last envelope drawn wins). The student can open his/her envelope and read the results to the audience or draws the next envelope and announces the name, sits down and so on. This celebration is one of the most important annual events at the College. Faculty and staff join in as well.

B.S. Recognition Programs
The University of Akron, Monday, May 11, 2009, 5 to 7 p.m.
Kent State University: Does not have one
Youngstown State University, TBA
Length of event:  Approximately 1½ hours
Attire:  Professional dress
No. of guests:  Unlimited
What will happen:  Each senior will be recognized individually, and those who have not already received the baccalaureate degree will be conferred the degree. The program begins with a reception with refreshments and includes a presentation by a representative from the class.
Miscellaneous: Invitations/letters will be issued in April from the universities to students. Attendance by all students at their respective university program is strongly encouraged, even if a student already received their degree.

Rehearsal -
Friday, May 15, 2009
Time & place:   at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, Akron
Length of event:  Approximately 1½ hours
Attire:  Business/professional attire please, as the Class Day Award program will begin after the class photo. Your class photo is taken after rehearsal; bring your commencement regalia.
What will happen:  Complete explanation of what will happen on commencement day, including a walk through. Attendance is required!
Parking:  Free parking is available in nearby lots.

Class Photo - Friday, May 15, 2009
Time & place:  Immediately following rehearsal
Length of event:  Approximately 30 minutes
Attire:  Robe, tam and dark shoes
What will happen:  Individual university campus and direct entry/advanced standing group pictures, as well as the class picture, will be taken.  Photos will be taken on the steps outside Thomas Hall, weather permitting; otherwise in the Goodrich Lobby.

Class Day Program - Friday, May 15, 2009
Time & place: 12:00 noon, E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, Akron
What will happen:  Each senior will be recognized individually and awards will be presented to students, faculty, and staff. There will be a special presentation by some members of the class and presentation of the class gift to the College.  Lunch is included. Spouses, parents, significant others are invited.

Commencement Ceremony - Saturday, May 16, 2009
Time & place:  Program begins at 10:00 a.m. at E.J. Thomas Performing Arts Hall, Akron
Length of event:  Approximately 2 hours
Attire:  Professional clothes, robe and tam
No. of guests:  Unlimited
What will happen:  Doors will open at Students will proceed to the Prop room to robe. At approximately , students will line up then move to back stage. At , the Grand Marshal' will begin the academic procession. A photographer will take a ‘hand shake’ photo as each student is handed their diploma.
Parking:  Free parking is available in the Thomas Hall parking deck and in nearby lots.

Commencement Reception - Saturday, May 16, 2009 
Time & place:  After the ceremony, at about
, in the Robinson and Goodrich Lobbies.
Length of event:  Approximately 1 hour
No. of guests:  Unlimited
What will happen:  You will join your family and friends in the Robinson and Goodrich lobbies; refreshments will be available.  Photographers will be available to take family portraits.  For those seniors in the military, a swearing in ceremony will take place immediately following the Commencement ceremony.

Don’t forget to turn in your robe, hood and tam at the regalia collection table near the parking deck entrance of McCormick Lobby.  If you purchased a tam or hood a new one will be given to you at this table.
